The Gilbert & Sullivan Figurines
Over the years, the theater and arts have provided Royal Doulton with fertile ground and inspiration for many of their celebrated figurines. This wonderful set of Gilbert and Sullivan figurines is a fine example of the pottery's keen interest in the theater.

Gilbert and Sullivan refers to the Victorian-era theatrical partnership of the dramatist W. S. Gilbert and the composer Arthur Sullivan and to the works they jointly created. The two men collaborated on fourteen comic operas between 1871 and 1896 and they are perhaps best known for a few standouts of their collaborative efforts such as; The Yeomen of the Guard, The Mikado, H.M.S Pinafore, and The Pirates of Penzance.
Pascoe and Company proudly offers the complete set of six Gilbert and Sullivan figurines which has two figures representing each of the following comic Operas; Pirates of Penzance (Ruth, the Pirate Maid and The Pirate King), The Mikado (Ko-Ko and Yum-Yum), and Yeoman of the Guard (Colonel Fairfax and Elsie Maynard).
The figurines in this Gilbert and Sullivan collection are between 10 and 12 inches tall and were modeled by W.K. Harper. They had a short production run in the early 1980's and make for a very colorful and lively character figure display.
