Ed Pascoe on Optimism HN4165
In the 1920s and 1930s the great Art Deco figures were made in bronze and ivory and set on marble bases. Royal Doulton paid tribute to them with an Art Deco collection of four figures, each in a limited edition of 500. This one, modeled by Timothy Potts, is called Optimism.
What looks like bronze, ivory and marble is all ceramic, the faux marble base included, and the whole figure is made in one piece.
“Look how complicated this piece is. It’s a wonderful collection. And we don’t often get this.” Ed Pascoe
Figures Royal Doulton itself made in the 1920s and 30s.
