Royal Doulton Edwardian String Quartet Collection
Doulton artist Valerie Annand created this amazing collection inspired by the Edwardian Era. Collect all four dazzling ladies dressed in authentic gowns with their respective string instruments.
The Edwardian Era is marked in history as the time in which King Edward VII assumed power on the throne (1901-1910). However, as history plays out, the essence of the time is what defines an era, not just the monarch.
According to Western history, this was a time period that marked a shift of great social change and one that reaffirmed the ruling power and luxury of lifestyle of elite classes of society. At this point in time Great Britain was the most powerful nation in the world.
The manners of the time carried strict rules that are very distinct from the nature of everyday life we are now accustomed to. Men never shook hands and women never removed their gloves in public. Dinner parties were planned down to the last detail; meals were pre-planned, seating arrangements pre-determined, and topics of conversation were on queue ahead of time.
Music in this era along with live performances were considered the standard of entertainment as cinema was still a primitive form of arts. Music hall was a very popular among audiences along with performers, comedians and impersonators.
Each figurine from this collection immortalizes the culture that although brief in the grand scheme of time, was still very influential to history as a whole.
