The versatility of Leslie Harradine as a modeler was quite exceptional. One day, he would create a stylish contemporary figurine in the fashions of his day and the next he would produce a nostalgic figurine from the Victorian era in a flounced crinoline and poke bonnet. He is perhaps best known for his pretty ladies but was equally skilled at portraying robust ‘salt of the earth’ characters, like his street sellers from old London. Country maids with sheep and poultry reflected his farming background yet he also enjoyed creating dainty little figurines in the style of the 18th century Chelsea porcelain factory.
