Ed's table of Royal Doulton: a flambé figure, the Mandarin, the red-haired Clown, Kingsware clocks and a Kingsware bottle

Royal Doulton flambé and Kingsware

Made at Burslem

Ed set out a table of pieces that came in over the last few months to show the range of what Royal Doulton made at its Burslem works, in the Stoke-on-Trent district that once held more than five hundred potteries: flambé, Kingsware, a character jug, and a Mandarin he has only seen a couple of times.

Below them is all the flambé and Kingsware we have. Most of it goes back to Charles Noke, Doulton's art director at Burslem, who was behind Kingsware at the turn of the century and the flambé glazes that followed.

Ed at the table

"What you are looking at now is a group of pieces made by Royal Doulton at their Burslem factory."

Ed walks through a table of new arrivals: a flambé Moor, the Mandarin HN641, a Kingsware clock with the night watchman, the bottle called Chadband with its silver top, and the red-haired Clown of 1939.

"I wanted to show you the kind of pieces that we at Pascoe & Company get to handle during the course of a year." Ed Pascoe
