Description
This fine bone china plate celebrates the marriage of His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales and Lady Diana Spencer on July 29, 1981. The design features Prince Charles, known for his titles including Duke of Cornwall, Prince of Wales, and Earl of Chester, alongside his bride, Lady Diana Spencer, on the occasion of their betrothal on February 24, 1981. The plate is adorned with symbolic elements representing both the Prince and his bride. Dolphins represent the Lordship of the Isles, the anchor symbolizes his naval connections, and the escallops honor Lady Diana’s family arms. The border showcases The Prince’s Arms at the top, the Plumes of the Prince of Wales at the bottom, and at the sides, the Arms of Lady Diana and the Duchy of Cornwall. Intertwined with roses, the initials of the royal couple complete the design. The Duchy of Cornwall, created by Edward III for his son, Edward the Black Prince in 1337, has a rich history tied to the estates granted within it.
