Description
The Shawl (Primroses and Violets) is a finely crafted ceramic figurine designed by the English sculptor Charles Vyse (1882–1971) and produced in England circa 1920–1930. Hand sculpted and carefully decorated, the figure showcases Vyse’s expressive modeling and painterly use of glaze. The piece depicts a woman wrapped in a shawl and carrying flowers, delicately painted with primroses and violets, bringing lively color and detail to the composition. The figure is mounted on a stained wooden base, enhancing its display. The figurine measures approximately 11.25 inches in height including the base, making it a beautiful and collectible example of Vyse’s early twentieth-century ceramic artistry.
