Ulysses S. Grant commanded the armies of the Union. Robert E. Lee was the Confederacy’s leading general. They stood for the two opposing sides of a divided nation, and Lee’s surrender to Grant in April 1865 effectively ended the American Civil War.

Royal Doulton commemorated these two historic figures in 1993 with limited-edition sculptures designed by Robert Tabbenor. An exceptional pairing for collectors of American history and Royal Doulton military figures.
The two figures
Grant stands at a stone wall in his dark Union frock coat, a folded map in one hand and the other resting on the flag laid over the stones.
Lee is in Confederate grey, his field glasses raised in one hand and his hat held in the other, gloved, with a gun carriage wheel behind him. Seen from the side, the two turn toward each other.
